Joe the Drummer

Joe Rork provides the percussive attack for 4YG.  Joe likes to eat Thai food and work security at art shows.  During the day you can find Joe hard at work:  making coffee, buying video games, and erasing porn from his hard drive.  All in a day's work for a Java programmer.  If you have a J2EE question Joe is your man.  Joe also has the most unique drum kit in the world.   What other kit has beer, blood, vomit, and other strange bodily fluids splattered all over it?  That's probably why nobody else can copy Joe's style.

Q:  It has been said that your kickdrum defines the sound of 4YG. Any comment?

A:  This is very true. This isn't really a sound that we set of to have in the beginning, but the way my kickdrum sounds has become the basis for all of the other sounds that we create. Sometimes specific sounds are hard to put to words, but this one would most likely be represented with the words 'Uhump... ppppppth.'.

Q:  Who are your biggest musical influences?

A:  Buddy Rich, Neil Peart, Les Claypool, Animal.

Q:  How do you handle playing with such inferior musicians?

A:  Dealing with such no talent morons is much easier to do than one would think. It's kind of like watching a dumb but funny movie, such as 'Dude,

where's my car?'

Q:  What CDs are you listening to right now?

A:  Books on tape 'Fatherhood for dummy's'.

Q:  Why are you always throwing drum sticks at Dave's butt during concerts?

A:  I don't actually throw any sticks, but the gravitational pull of such a large object tends to be very hard to fight and eventually I just have to give up.
